Overlap – Web & Typography, Author

The book Overlap – Web & Typography was written by Jana Kemmer and me and got published in german and english by the publisher niggli in 09.2015. It is kind of an overworked outcome of our bachelor thesis which was the concept of a cyclic published magazine with the same topic: Webtypography. In this time the possibility to use any font possible in the web was quite new and not everybody knew how to handle it and how to chose the right fonts for the pixel based world. The book tells about the story of web typography, gives an overview on how fonts in the web are optimized for it (or not), shows some fonts in an analysis with a rating, and also explains how the technologie of implementing works.

The book got featured in the 03.2016 issue of the PAGE Magazine and was also featured online with a diverse range of articles. Fun story, I discovered it in a bookstore in the arts district of LA, while travelling the westcoast.

It still is available online (even if it’s kind of outdatet already).
